Research overview.

  • As one of the most complex issues of physics, the study of nonlinear phenomena, the self-organization processes in the plasma (plasma discharges in gases, laser ablation), etc. , these is one of the extremely important topics for international scientific community [E. Lozneanu, M. Sanduloviciu, Self-organization scenario acting as physical basis of intelligent complex systems created in laboratory Chaos, Solitons and Fractals, 30 (1), 125 (2006) ; R. Srinivasan and V. Mayne-Banton, Appl. Phys. Lett. 41 (1982), pp. 576–578; R. Srinivasan and B. Braren, Chem. Rev. 89 (1989), pp. 1303–1316; L. Urech, T. Lippert, C.R. Phipps, A. Wokaun, Chang, T., Wu, C. C., Podesta, J., Echim, M., Lamy, H., Tam, S. W. Y., ROMA (Rank-Ordered Multifractal Analyses) of intermittency in space plasmas - a brief tutorial review, Nonlinear Processes in Geophysics, Volume 17, Issue 5, 2010; Polymer ablation: From fundamentals of polymer design to laser plasma thruster Applied Surface Science, Volume 253, Issue 15, 30 May 2007, Pages 6409-6415]. These studies are of reference in terms of basic research, especially as applied research.
  • Multifunctional self-organized complex systems find applications of interest for a wide variety of branches of modern science, such as nanotechnology (obtaining new nano-scale ion sources, etc), the advanced technologies of space propulsion plasma ("Helicon Plasma Thruster Double Layers") or in nano-electronics with a strategic role in developing information technology and telecommunications [S. Ami et all., Chem. Phys. Lett. 367, p. 662, 2003]. Knowledge of the processes leading to the phenomenon of self-organization, and on this basis to obtain nanostructures is very important, on the one hand it allows the action controlled atomic and molecular level during operations for obtaining nanomaterials and on the other hand lead to considerable reduction in the consumption of strategic materials and energy consumption. This control atomic and molecular level is necessary for the development of new technologies (obtaining new materials) capable of nano-scale work in a controlled and reproducible, providing a basis for future production processes [Georgeta Strat, M. Strat, S. Gurlui, C. Focsa, D. Dumitriu | Series: Optoelectronic Materials and Devices, Self- Organization in Nanomaterials, Editors: Punit Boolchand, Gerald Lucovsky, M. Popescu, Editura INOE, 2007, p.53-91].
  • Double layers have been found and studied in almost all plasma production devices:
    • diode plasma [P. Coakley, N. Hershkowitz, R. Hubbard, G. Joyce, Experimental obervations of strong double layers, Phys. Rev. Lett. 40 (1978) 230; S. Iizuka, H. Phys. 59 (1996) 91].
  • Plasma double layers enjoys a growing interest on the one hand because of complex physical phenomena that lead to their formation and evolution (single or multiple double layers obtained under natural conditions or experimental) on the other hand, due to similarities with structures spatial tasks defined by the cell membrane. As of plasma double layers, the cell membrane plays an important role in the existence of the cell, electric potential, electric field density that such a task has dependent membrane similar to those of a double layer of plasma. Both investigated "seem to respond" similar to the action of various external physico-chemical factors, the evolution (time characteristics of existence), to grow, change and energy field surrounding environment.
